3 Reasons You MUST read novels as a digital writer

If you don’t read novels as a digital writer, you are a terrible person.

I only recently began, & realised how much I was missing. I’ve read “practical” books that will aid me in my quests. However, in non-fiction books, the language is far from beautiful.

It is to the point and borderline scientific.

 1.         You read amazing phrases you can steal for yourself

I’ve created a notebook for the language I see in novels that I like. I’ve been reading Fear and Loathing, highlighting language I like and putting it into the booklet, ready to relocate to my digital essays.

2.         It motivates you creatively

I’m ashamed to say I’ve been to the no-nonsense guy, sticking to nonfiction. Because since I’ve been reading Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas, my imagination has been fired in ways it hasn’t in years.

I’m having memories pop up, that I’ve not had since the original event.

This will aid you in all areas of life, but when it comes to your writing topics, it will turbocharge it.

3.         They’re written by the best writers

There is an unspoken of hierarchy in writing (in my mind!). The best writers write fiction.

These writers have studied writing the most, often dedicating themselves to the craft from a very young age. Hunter S Thompson was winning writing competitions aged 12.

Through reading novels, you are being introduced to masters at work.

Most non-fiction books are written by experts in their field, not necessarily great writers.
