3 Huge Lies Creators Tell Themselves

Self-deception is fear.

When you lie to yourself, you're doing it because you're afraid to face the truth about your life head-on.

Content creators do this often.

They make up these reasons why they're not successful to avoid the truth that they just haven't done what it takes to win.

This game is not for the weak of heart, which is why I never try to make it seem easier than it is.

If you spot yourself spouting any of these lies, it's time to have a heart-to-heart with yourself.

Lie # 1 - "They" Don't Get It

If nobody reads your shit, watches your videos, or listens to your podcast episodes, it's your fault, not theirs.

I promise you're not some misunderstood creative genius. If the market doesn't like your content, it's not good. You have to work to improve it.

Lie #2 - I'm Doing The Work

You're not even going close to the number of reps you need to do to get good. I don't even have to know you to know that because I've been doing this for eight years.

99 percent of content creators don't scratch the surface. Make content daily, for years at a time, then you'll have done the work.

Lie #3 - I Should be Further Ahead by Now

You look at other creators who have a bigger audience than you & think you deserve to be in their position. In reality, you're too entitled. You're too worried about yourself instead of your audience. You have unrealistic expectations and timelines. You're arrogant.

Making it in this game requires patience, brutal self-honest, diligence, and the ability to follow directions and be coachable.

If you're not where you want to be yet, look in the mirror.
