Having a strong mindset is essential to achieving success and overcoming the challenges life throws at you.
As a daughter of immigrants, I saw my parents face adversity and achieve success. As a student-athlete, I modeled the behaviors I had learned from birth. As a teacher, not only do I teach content like science and languages, but teach students to develop their mindset.
When I decided to become an entrepreneur, I remembered how my parents and experienced entrepreneurs acted. The characteristics they displayed I knew well. They’ve helped me succeed throughout life from changing degrees, moving overseas, becoming a digital entrepreneur to battling a brain tumor.
As you start on your path to entrepreneurship, developing a successful mindset should be your first priority.
So, let’s dive in to learn what you need:
Positivity
If you can see the best in any situation, you'll turn the issues you face into challenges and opportunities for growth.
One powerful way to increase positivity is by expressing gratitude. I’ve always been a smiling positive woman, but in 2018 I started using the 5-Minute Journal daily. The action of giving thanks for every positive part of your life makes you appreciate it even more. As an entrepreneur, this will help you in the early stages when growth and sales are slow.
Learn From Failure
Failures are not the end of the world.
When things don’t work out, go back and re-evaluate the parts that didn’t work out. Try to look at things objectively or ask someone to help you. By going over failures in your new business, you learn to see mistakes as opportunities for growth and improvement in the future.
Perseverance
My favorite trait! Keep going no matter what!
You have goals that you want to achieve. When things go wrong or don’t work as expected, keep focused on what you’re working toward. Your goals! Don’t lose sight of them. If you keep your goals in mind, you will stay on track and move forward.
Love of Learning
If you don’t like learning, look back on what motivated you as a kid.
Find your inner child that loved to learn and focus on what you loved to do. Those childhood motivations need to become part of your daily routine to encourage you to learn and find inspiration in the world.?
Flexibility
You must learn to make other plans when things don’t go your way.
To teach yourself this trait, you need to focus on planning. By planning your days, you learn to track your daily activities and create plans of action for those uncertain events. If something arises, pre-planning prepares you to handle changes or situations instead of having a meltdown.
Starting your online business is exciting, I know. But I recommend you work on developing your CEO mindset before moving ahead. It’s the key to your success!
As I tell my students, you got this and I’m rooting for you!
Buena suerte. Good luck. Sorte on.
