As someone who makes a living marketing others' content, this experiment showed me how much I didn't know about marketing my own.

Over the next 13 days, I thought I'd start breaking down my key takeaways in several atomic essays (doing it in one would be impossible).

This is the first one.

What I'm Learning So Far:

• I'm at an intersection of niching down while also trying to create myself a better system so I'm working smarter, not harder.

• I, 'The Fearless 5 Podcast' chick, didn't realize I had some fear of showing my own vulnerabilities—like sharing certain stories & info, or appearing on camera for video podcasts.

• Video editing!

• Things I used as "solutions" were anything but (Patreon, Substack)

Content I Swore Would Work Great for Me Didn't

This was one of my first tough lessons to learn in Ship 30 for 30. The Ship helps you break down your ego like never before.

Social blogging with Typeshare gives you more feedback + feedback that's more instant. You don't get this with a blog. And Nicholas Cole tries to warn you about this upfront!

But the reality is harsh!

This is the Best Time To Shift Your Content Strategy

For me, I went into the #ContentStorm experiment on 12/1/21 being abruptly horrified at the realization that my web traffic from Facebook was non-existent for the first time ever.

I pledged that day to write online each day for the next 90 days. But I added in a small expansion on video content.

TikTok and Twitter are now driving most of my web traffic after search and direct. Facebook and Instagram dropped off.

Think I'll stick with TikTok 😉
