Introduction
When you install the IFTTT app on your iPhone, one service you may find useful is one specifically called "iOS Reading List". This is an iPhone specific service that makes use of the reading list feature on the Safari browser on the iPhone. Unlike the trigger services of location and widget related services, this service has an action.
With other iPhone specific services, they all tend to be built around the central purpose of a specific app. What makes this one a little different is that it's built around just a specific feature of an app. In this case it's Safari, the default web browser on the iPhone.
It should be noted that because this is built for the specific Safari feature it will only work with Safari and not with any other third party browsers you may want to use on the iPhone. While they may have some similar features they are different apps so would require a separate service if one were available.
The reading list in Safari is a feature that allows you to save articles for later. Very much similar to apps such as Instapaper, Pocket, Matter etc except this is built into the Safari browser. It's far more limited than a dedicated app but if you don't need anything sophisticated it may be more convenient, especially if you already use Safari.
Actions
The one action available on this service is to simply add an item to the Reading List. So if you find an article from elsewhere or actually from another browser you could send that via some other trigger to end up on your Safari reading list. You can set the URL or link of the article as well as the title and the preview text it should show in Safari's Reading List.
