Over the past 7 years, I have read TONS of books on the subject of communication & coaching.
1 or 2 sucked. Most were pretty good. But some were incredible! I encourage you to give the following 3 a read. They changed my outlook on the topic and made me a more effective communicator.
They're well worth the time.
Book #1: Crucial Conversations: Tools For Talking When The Stakes Are High
by Patterson, Grenny, Mcmillan & Switzler
This book was recommended to me by Abby Bangser. I think everyone should read this book!
And here's why you'll love it: When faced with the choice of giving feedback that will devastate the recipient or keeping it bottled up inside, this book teaches you how to make a third choice.
Book #2: The Coaches Casebook: Mastering The Twelve Traits That Trap Us
by Morgan and Watts
I first read this book in 2020.
Here's why I think you'll love it: It demonstrates how coaching can help people with a variety of different goals in a variety of different situations.
Book #3: Coaching Questions: A Coach's Guide to Powerful Asking Skills
by Stoltzfus
Finally, another book I think everyone should read!
And here's why: It gives practical examples showing when and how to use powerful coaching questions. The context is mainly focused on 1:1 coaching, but it's such a well-written book that it's easy to see where else you can apply the approach.
