My mom saw it coming, no one believed her. They called her crazy. But it was there all along.

My grandma started confusing things, blaming others for touching her belongings and behaving differently. She would argue and blame others for misplacing her stuff when in reality no one has touched anything. Everything that was said to her had to be repeated more than enough times. Occasionally, she would forget what she was even talking about. Once we found her pillowcase filled with utensils on the bed and we also would see utensils misplaced in her closet or her bedroom.

Little things like that are just signs that people have to notice and take action for. Alzheimer’s is not something you can just get rid of but there are medications to slow down the process.

I wonder what would have happened if someone actually listened to my mom and given my grandma the medications she needed. What if that did happen, maybe she would have not been as bad as she is now. Therefore, it is important to notice the signs beforehand and treat it with medication because if not, then you’ll regret it at the end.

Another common dangerous sign that my grandma was showing was that she would forget that she was cooking or that she forgot to turn off the stove. We immediately knew that my grandma was not able to be living by herself, so we put her in a home where we knew she was going to be safe.
