Essay #17: Attending School functions can be Vital to Your College Experience
Cecilia Valdes-Brito

As a high school student transitioning into college life, I did not expect much from it because I never thought that community colleges would throw events to go to. It was a shock for me to learn about the different things that you could do in community college because they give you so many different options and activities to choose from. You could go to school events that are thrown every week, attend meetings, and even join clubs.

Doing all of these activities listed could get you very involved in the student body at your college and it is always important to be a part of something bigger than yourself. You know that when you attend school events it can look great on your part because it shows that you want to participate in many things, making you a very well-rounded person. This can also look very good on you college resume if you one day decide to transfer anywhere else.

Another benefit that comes with attending school events is the people that you will meet there. When you distance yourself from these school events, you tend to distance yourself from the student body and even potential school friends. It is always nice to talk to other people and meet new ones along the way. I know that it may not seem very important now to attend school events, but as a college student there can be many benefits such as the ones discussed above.
