Essay #19: Learning About Awards As a Highschool Student Transitioning Into College
Cecilia Valdes-Brito

As a highschool student transitioning into college I have learned so many things, which mainly come from my courses. Normally I would have no idea what to do when learning about certain things, but as of late some things have been very clear to me. I feel as if I have been able to retain more knowledge on very important topics such as class work, student life, and even organizations within the school. One of the things that I have learned about that could greatly help me in my college life is the awards and scholarships that are given to students for all the good that they do.

I have never realized how many awards and scholarships that are given to college students that are a part of my school community. It makes me feel like I could be able one day achieve one of the awards for myself because it seems quite attainable. For example: the presidential award that is given to college students for completing service hours is quite remarkable and very attainable at the same time. As a college student, I know that trying to fit in service hours to be a part of your everyday life can be difficult at times but not impossible.

You could always be able to put in the work to earn something that is amazing such as this award. Another award can be the Civic Engagement one which is given to students that put in work to improve their communities. It is also to be considered as a very attainable, yet very amazing award because you are helping the environment as a whole when you engage in such activities. Just know that as a college student these awards can be something incredible to earn and can look amazing on your resume as well.
