One way to feel more productive is to constantly learn new things.

But the most productive people are the ones putting things into action.

These people are using the idea of just-in-time leaning and implementing things quickly. There are 2 types of learning; just-in-case and just-in-time (h/t Dickie Bush). Instead of learning things that you might need in the future shift to learning things that you actually need now to further your goals.

Triathlon training is the kind of goal that you should learn just-in-time.

You can't learn to swim by reading a book.

At some point, you need to get in the water.

Learning can come later to support you when you get stuck.

The concept of just-in-time learning also aligns with how the brain makes connections. You retain information that is highly specific and just-challenging enough for your current abilities. So rather than learning everything you can about triathlon get started and see where you get stuck.

When you reach a wall; reach out to coaches, read articles, or pick the brains of other athletes to get unstuck.

Spend less time reading and learning for entertainment. Start a project or training program and learn as you go. You won't be able to read everything on Google anyway.
