There's huge value in learning from your peers and here's a way to build data analysis and visualisation skills
Eva Murray

Teachers and people with more years of experience aren't the only ones who can teach you valuable knowledge.

I discovered peer-to-peer learning early in my career and then got involved in the data community in the last 6 years. I've been hooked ever since. You can learn a lot from others outside of formal education environments.

Your peers understand the challenges

When you start learning a new tool or programming language, you'll face challenges.

Your peers can relate to your struggles and have probably found a solution they're happy to share with you. Ask them for help and figure things out together.

Working through a problem collaboratively makes the solution more valuable and memorable than simply being told what to do.

Your peers can inspire you

I've seen many people finding great inspiration in the work of those around them.

You can look up to the grand masters in your field, but seeing what others with similar skills create every day is where a lot of inspiration and ideas come from.

Connect with the relevant communities and immerse yourself in what people are building. I'm sure it will motivate you.

The return of #MakeoverMonday - a social data project

#MakeoverMonday is coming back from its hiatus on Monday, 29th August 2022.

Andy is restarting this popular project. Everyone is welcome to join him in visualising and analysing a new dataset each week.

Build your dataviz skills and your analyst mindset, meet like-minded people and grow your portfolio, one week at a time.
