What is the difference between convergent and divergent thinking?

Convergent thinking involves finding a single solution to a problem. It is a logical and linear approach where one analyzes available information to arrive at a correct answer.

Divergent thinking, in contrast, is a spontaneous and non-linear approach where one generates multiple solutions to a problem. This type of thinking is creative, free-flowing, and focuses on possibilities rather than limitations.Individuals with ADHD tend to have a divergent thinking style.

What Kinds of Workplaces to ADHDers thrive in?

People with ADHD often excel in workplaces that value creativity and out-of-the-box thinking. They will do well in situations that play to their stregnths, but not ones that require many convergent thinking tasks, especially if they are boring.

How can a workplace support divergent thinkers?

A workplace can support divergent thinkers by recognizing and valuing their unique skills and strengths. Employers can provide opportunities for creative problem-solving and brainstorming sessions, and offer flexible work arrangements and environments.

Overall, research suggests that incorporating divergent thinkers into teams can bring valuable perspectives and ideas, leading to increased innovation and creativity. Teams that include both convergent and divergent thinkers can be especially effective in solving complex problems and generating novel solutions.
