Depression is a difficult issue that arises in many people's lives. It damages a person's ego and self-worth due to the crippling hindrance of motivation it brings, and the negative spiraling thoughts. In this vulnerable mental state, many people seek things that provide escape such as partying, gambling, and substance abuse.

I've seen that when someone has depression they lose the will to live their normal lives; work, eat and sleep, which causes the individual to not be well groomed, lose employment, and accumulate health and family issues. This left that person with a crippled and broken self-image which leads to a very vulnerable and fragile state of mind. Now counseling would have been an effective treatment option, but due to having too much pride, they combat these issues with substances such as drugs, and alcohol, and create self-destructive habits like impulsively buying, gambling, and over-eating. This only provides temporary refuge due to the toxic nature of the relationship with it.

Certain relatives of mine have long suffered from depression and in most cases, this was the way the issue was resolved. These bad habits have caused many physical and financial problems not allowing them to further expand wealth and success.
