Day 13: How Reading Books Can Improve Your Self-Care

Reading is a great way to practice self-care. Not only does it relieve stress and anxiety, reading can improve your mental health, which is crucial for self-care.

To receive the multitude of benefits reading offers, you should make sure to prioritize time everyday for some reading, even if it's just for 15 minutes. First, dedicate an area for reading. Make sure you're it's a distraction-free place where you won't be deserved, perhaps in your bedroom. Then, find a comfortable position and keep some snacks or drinks handy. Finally, pick out a book that peaks your interest and get to reading! As you read and your imagination takes over, you'll feel a weight off your shoulders. It's a great escape from everyday worries and stressors.

Books have the power to change you from within. Reading allows you to temporarily escape reality as you immerse myself into someone else’s world. It also broadens your imagination as you visualize every character and every detail of a story as you read. Through stories of love, loss, death, friendship, and betrayal, you can learn a multitude of meaningful life lessons that boost my creativity. 

Reading should be part of a daily self-care routine as it will help relieve, boost creativity, and it's even proven to make you smarter!
