Day 18: How to Boost Your Confidence to Help Improve Your Mental Health
Melody Corredera

Confidence is an important quality to have for your mental health. Without it, you're at risk for low self-esteem, lack of motivation, depression, and anxiety. Self-confidence allows you to trust yourself and take control of your own life.

Let Go of Negative People

Positivity is crucial for confidence. You need to stop surrounding yourself with people who bring you down and spend time with those who lift you up instead. Pick your friends wisely and make sure you are treated with respect and acceptance.

Take Care of Your Mind and Body

When you feel good on the inside, you'll look good on the outside. Make sure to nourish your body with the nutrients it needs, but don't strictly restrict your food. Make time for exercise to improve your physical health. Practice mindfulness meditation every day to improve wellness and relieve stress.

Don't Compare Yourself to Others

Your life is unique and your path is unique. Don't compare yourself to people you consider more successful than you are and remember the grass isn't greener on the other side. There is no timeline you need to meet and everything that is meant for you will come for you. Also, don't surrender to unrealistic expectations or body image. If social media is making you feel like shit, then stop scrolling mindlessly for hours. Most of what you see online is a lie and you're harming your mind by believing it.

Prioritize Yourself

It's not selfish to take care of yourself, don't let anybody tell you different. Make time for what makes you happy and work on your goals. You will significantly improve your confidence once you start to focus on yourself. Adding positive affirmations to your self-care routine can also help boost your confidence, which will do wonders for your mental health.
