I joined HNGi9 by accident and so far, the past 3 weeks, I've been tested beyond my "supposed limits" and stretched well out of my comfort zone.

But this thread is not about that story.

I am writing about how Zuri implemented CHIA (@chia_project) in its internship.

Firstly, here's a summarized background of CHIA:

WHAT IT IS

CHIA is a blockchain infrastructure that provides smart contract solutions and also has its own digital currency, $XCH.

WHAT MAKES IT UNIQUE

CHIA uses Proof-of-Space (PoS) mechanism as against the energy-intensive Proof-of-Work (PoW) mechanism used by crypto giants, Bitcoin, and Ethereum. This means CHIA uses storage- enterprise SSDs and HDDs- devices rather than processing power.

They are positioning to be a "green" alternative to crypto-farming. For context on how promising this is, here's a stat about the energy consumption of bitcoin in comparison to other countries:

GLOBAL IMPACT

The reception of this new innovative project is apparently positive as evidenced by this report:

Now, Zuri (@theZuriTeam) implemented CHIA in their @hnginternship in the following ways:

1. They utilized the CHIA blockchain to list NFTs created by interns.

2. They utilized CHIA's smart contract solution to set up an ongoing reward system, "free lunch", for interns with excellent performance.

The "free lunch" reward is worth NGN100 ($0.23), and Zuri chose to use the created NFTs as an equivalent reward.

Meaning, each NFT is redeemable for NGN100. So, participants download and set up the CHIA wallet on their PCs, using the Light wallet mode option.

Then, awardees could send their wallet addresses (gotten from the NFT tab), to a mentor to get their reward.

3. They also used CHIA's smart contract solution to set up a commercial system whereby teams can purchase top talents from the internship pool.

So each team was allocated Zuri NFTs, such that they would be able to compete in a price war for these top talents (developers, DevOps

engineers, etc) in a bid to woo them to their team.

4. The NFTs are usually transferred from mentor to intern/ from team lead to expensive Dev, using the CHIA's digital token $XCH.

In summary, Zuri implemented all three of CHIA's core value offerings:

-> CHIA blockchain network

-> CHIA Smart contract solution

-> CHIA digital currency ($XCH)

in their HNGi9 internship programme.
