Chances of Getting Injured in the Gym are very Small if you are Safe
Ryan Hidalgo

Many people are intimidated to go to the gym because they don't want to get hurt. Most College students are no exception to this, but are the chances of you hurting yourself that high if you know what you are doing?

In reality, from personal experience, I have only witnessed one person get hurt in the gym, and this was only due to the fact they made the biggest mistake any beginner in the gym can make, known as ego lifting.

Typically, it would help if you always started with a reasonably lightweight to get used to proper form and technique for a given exercise to reduce the chances of getting injured.

Most beginners ignore this and want to show off how strong they can be, which in most cases isn't all that strong just yet. Due to this, their form easily breaks down, increasing the chances of getting injured.

The common theme is that when you stick to proper form and don't go heavier than what you can handle, there is no real risk of getting hurt.

The proper form is how to move properly in the way your body will allow it to move without any pain to avoid hurting yourself. Asking someone for help by demonstrating can also be a good idea.

To summarize it all, stick to good form and ask for help when needed; with that, you will be almost no chance of getting hurt. Even though accidents do happen, doing things correctly will massively reduce the chances of any of these injuries.
