Atomic Habits by James Clear is the best book ever written on self-improvement.
Here's the thing, it's not a self improvement book.
It is a book that outlines the reasons why we do what we do.
A change was needed in my life during my 20s, this book helped me make that change.
Reason #1: Motivation fails you.
I've lost count of the number of times I've gotten the motivation to make a big change in my life.
Only to lose it the next day, or when life gets in the way.
Don't rely on motivation, develop a system of doing.
Reason #2: Start small
Having goals is normal, but can be intimidating when starting from 0.
Progress only comes from taking small steps toward that goal every day.
Do that smallest step possible, over time you get in the habit of doing it.
Reason #3: Focus on the process, the outcome is a perk.
Winners and Losers all have the same goal.
The difference is the system used day in and day out.
Your system and how well you've developed it is what will get you to your goals.
This book changed my life and is one of the few books I revisit every year.
Read it and you'll understand why.
