Full disclosure I used to work at Amazon--the makers of the Kindle, but I've always been huge book lover and avid reader. And I think the Kindle is a superior experience to a paper book. Here's why:
1. Space + Portability
Most Kindles can hold over 1000 books, making them perfect when you don't have a lot of space. Plus weighing 8 oz, with a form factor that fits in one hand, the kindle is perfect for travel or reading on the go. And the screen is glare free in any light.
2. All the Bells and Whistles.
The Kindle comes loaded with features you don't need to leave the page to access. With a tap of a finger you can customize font size, thickness, and page layout. There is a built-in dictionary, wikipedia and translation for multiple languages. Plus you can add highlights and notes. There's also an adjustable backlit screen so you can read at night.
3. Books Anywhere, Anytime.
You can download new books anytime and anywhere you want. From the device you can access the Kindle store that has over 4 million books, select one and it's on your Kindle in seconds. You can even borrow ebooks from public libraries.
4. Immersive
Yes this an electronic device, but it's a purposeful one. Built to read. So you won't get any prompts, chimes or notifications to take you out of your story. Just immerse your self in your book free of distractions.
