Scarcity makes you stupid.

Not having enough when it is needed spikes stress.

Stress makes it hard to make good decisions.

Which makes you stupid.

The cause of your stress is the answer to solving your problem.

Here's what it looks like: 🧵

It's not obvious in the moment - but reveals itself in reflection after the stressful event. Start with reflection to identify why certain situations make you feel dumb - because those situations are Literally making you dumb. Then work on that problem.

Problem: Not enough money to live at your minimum level of lifestyle.

Solution: Increase your income.

How? Learn a valuable skill.

It is usually obvious.

There is usually a thought attached to the obvious solution.

Like: It takes money to get skills - which I don't have.

This is the stress response that makes you stupid.

Reach further than the first thought.

What about free education? - Like Youtube and Coursera.

Next learn to apply the new skill.

Offer to do something for free at work or for another person. Gain the experience and prove your value. Then ask for a raise, or start charging for your service.

The bottomline?

  • Pause

  • Think

  • Plan

  • Act

Overcome your most dominant life problem by changing your approach.

And remember there are more options than at first appear.
