Monthly Review #8

What were my biggest realizations?

  1. Confirmation and Negativity biases seem to be largest mood constraints. Not dropping negative thoughts, and by extension negative people. Much progress has been made on this front, and still more to go.

  2. Affirmations are guideposts for each week. A new thing to learn, a new subconscious directive. The key is keeping them reasonable and challenging enough to get a good result.

  3. Habits, of body and mind must be worked together. Without one there is imbalance that effects my mood deeply.

  4. Sleep is a necessity. The day changes with an extra hour of rest.

  5. In certain circumstances, maintaining new and relatively delicate or "against the grain" habits is nearly impossible without compromise. The key is to set time constraint on when to return to the ideal versions of those habits.

What am I going to do more of this month? Less of?

  1. More habits that are positive - exercise, breathwork, and writing

  2. More time with positive people, less with negative people.

  3. More garage work

  4. More creative work

  5. More focused time - reinforcing sacred hours

  6. Less time being distracted

  7. Less rumination

What am I excited about for the upcoming month?

  1. Getting married this month

  2. Writing more, reading more

  3. Partially siding and completely roofing the garage

  4. Time spent on personal and professional development courses

What patterns do identify?

  • Negative self-talk coinciding with change - particularly large life changes.

  • Time spent on professional development has gone up

  • Time spent on personal development has gone down

  • Garage work is a source of joy and stress

  • Walks and hikes are a source of enjoyment and easy communication

What will I eliminate?

  • Eliminate non serving habits

  • Be honest about change and return to the present when negative self-talk arises

What will I double down on?

  • Personal and professional development

  • Coaching negative thoughts

  • Time with family and friends (more hikes, focus on quality time)

  • Garage work (siding, door installation, wiring)
