Weekly Review #20

Wins & Realizations

  • This week was marked by interesting encounters with strangers. Funny thing is how quickly someone goes from being a stranger to being a trusted acquaintance.

    • Met a couple moving their narrow boat through a canal and offered to help open and close the locks. Free education on the marvel that is a canal and lock system.

    • My seat mate on an a transatlantic flight turned out to be an inspiring individual whose life focus has been on helping others. Now in his 2nd retirement, he freely shares wisdom for those who are seeking it. An honor to have met you sir.

    • The fellow business traveler at the airport, who after a quick conversation trusted me to watch their luggage while they stepped away. And I then reciprocate in kind by requesting the same trust.

    • The driver to and from the airport. Knowledgable and interested in talking about cultural similarities, differences, and global politics without an aggressive attachment to their own POV. Made for a stimulating conversation.

  • Drove in the UK up until my final day there. Challenging experience for all but the last 2-3 days. Then, like most things, experience hit a point where it started to "click." Smooth driving from there.

  • Tried a Sunday roast dinner and was not disappointed.

  • Going the extra mile, can seem like a lot of effort. It usually is only 20 seconds of more thought in any given situation followed by a few minutes of extra action.

Gratitude

  • For work and travel opportunities and the cultural insight it provides thereby improving self reflection by applying/challenging with new concepts to held beliefs.

Habits

  • Breathwork 5/6

  • Exercise 4/4
