A simple way to break into the PPC industry without traditional experience?
Build a portfolio.
Here's how:
1. Create a Google Ads account
2. Get familiar with navigating the platform
3. Learn to build simple search campaigns (with strong foundations)
4. Choose any brand or company of your choice to build a campaign for
5. Plan your campaign (keywords, ad groups, ad copy etc.) on a sheet
6. Build the campaign out on the platform (just don't publish it)
7. Show this to employers during interviews
If you can navigate the platform and know the fundamentals of building strong search campaigns?
That's pretty much all you need to get your foot in the door and land your first, entry-level PPC or paid media role.
For bonus points:
- Repeat the process with another paid media platform. I'd recommend Meta.
- Learn the 3 components of a marketing funnel: TOFU/MOFU/BOFU.
- Have a general interest in marketing.
Have you had to build a portfolio or complete a project for a job interview before?
