5 Tips On Setting Clear Objectives With AI Prompts To Get The Results You Expect
Andrew McNall

Setting clear objectives with AI prompts is crucial for getting the results you want.

For example, a prompt with a poor objective might be the following: "Create a social media post." A prompt with a clearer objective would be: "Create a compelling Facebook post that highlights our new product and engages customers with a question."

Here's 5 tips on how to write your prompts so the results meet your expectations:

Tip 1: Start with the end in mind.

Know exact what outcome you want from your prompt when you write it. For example, if you're writing a social media post, specify if it will be for X, LinkedIn or Facebook. Each platform has a different style and your AI will adjust accordingly.

Tip 2: Be Specific, And Flexible

Include specific details, such as the type of content, target audience and tone of voice. Avoid, however, over-constraining the AI to allow is some creativity and freedom to suggest innovative ideas.

Tip 3: Provide Context

Give your AI enough context to understand your market, brand, audience and purpose of the content. For example, you can mention your audience demographics or key message you want to convey

Tip 4: Include a Clear Call-to-Action (If Applicable)

If your objective involves prompting a specific action, state this in the prompt. This ensures the AI generates content that guides your audience toward that action.

Tip 5: Iterate and Refine

Often your first prompt will get you roughly the results you want. Consider it a draft. Refining your prompt by adding more details or clarifying your objective can help you get closer to the desired result.
