How Often Should You Train Your Crisis Management Team?

Last week, there was a great discussion on the frequency of crisis management exercises in a forum I'm part of. What was most surprising to me was the degree of consensus on the ideal tempo. Most folks aim for:

- Quarterly low-intensity tabletops focused on skills development and team cohesion.

- Annual high-intensity simulations to reinforce learning and test teams and systems in a realistic environment.

A bonus would be an additional monthly 'booster' session (like a lunch and learn) on a specific topic or skill.

It was great to see that no one suggested one-off annual exercises, which are only good for checking the 'training' box and burning up a lot of cash in the process.

I wrote up a more in-depth guide on scheduling and managing crisis training that will be in peoples' inboxes tomorrow. (If you're not a subscriber, sign up using the link in my bio above. That way, you'll get the guide right away.)

Now I'm I'm curious.🧐 How often do you conduct crisis management training?
