Compare - similarities and differences between; is one preferable over the other?
Contrast - set topics into opposing arguments to find where they are different
Criticise - use evidence and reasoning to make a supported judgement about the relative merits and shortfalls of something
Define - deconstruct the meaning of a word so it is clear what it is and what it isn't
Describe - provide a detailed account of
Discuss - use arguments and debates to identify reasons for and against something; consider the implications
Evaluate - identify the value of something with respect to what is know about it; might include an opinion
Illustrate - use examples, in a diagram or figure, or in the text to make something clear
Interpret - expand and explain the meaning of something so it is clear; usually include your own understanding
Justify - state why certain decisions or conclusions were made, answering any queries others could have
Outline - identify the main features/priorities of a topic in a structured, broad level overview
Relate - demonstrate how things are connected and influence one another
Review - explore your topic in detail
State - clearly identify something in a brief manner
