I'm not trying to advocate for shiny object syndrome here, but as an app Capacities has to be one of the best for PKM. It's not perfect - no app is - but as a tool for me to organise information from the literature, it's a delight to use.
Here are the major features, over other apps, that keep me going back:
It's simple to use. Once you grasp the main feature, which is that it relies on objects as catch pots for notes, rather than files per se, you'll be flying.
It looks nice with just the right amount of customisation. Always a bonus.
It uses backlinks, which are a useful feature over the likes of OneNote.
Images, PDFs and websites are also objects which mean they can have their own attributes.
Everything is anchored to both the calendar and an object type, meaning you know what you worked on when, and where it is.
