Satya Nadella in a recent interview said:
“SaaS applications or biz apps - the notion that business applications exist - that will probably collapse in the agent era. Because if you think about it, they are essentially CRUD databases with a bunch of business logic.”
This quote has been on my mind recently, and I believe it points to something even more deeper: It’s not just SaaS apps that will be redefined - AI agents will fundamentally change how outcomes are achieved across all domains.
Traditional methods and processes will not serve as a rigid template or box for AI agents. Instead, the next generation of 'reasoning' models will enable AI to redefine the pathways to achieving the same outcomes, unlocking smarter, faster, and more scalable methods—often in ways that were not possible within the constraints of human-dependent approaches.
It won’t be about saying, "This is how we do it", but rather asking AI to "Go figure it out".
