The Power of having an Accountability Circle 💪

How to actually get sh*t done?

I've been grappling with this question for the last 2 years.

Ever since I started my community of solopreneurs, the biggest challenge I've faced is how to do ensure that members are actually putting in the work required to achieve their goals.

There's no dearth of business knowledge on the internet. The only thing that separates the winners from losers is the execution.

I've tried and failed at a number of initiatives to nudge members to take more action.

But 3 or 4 have been the most effective, one of the them is the weekly accountability check-ins

Weekly Accountability Check-ins

Every Monday, we have a prompt in the accountability circle channel in the community, where I ask members to list their top 3 priorities of the week.

What tasks if completed will ensure that the week is a win for them.

Members list their top 3 tasks, this sets the tone for their week, they know very well how they are going to win the week.

Friday check-ins and reflection - Every Friday we have a prompt in the same channel, asking members to reflect on the week and share their wins and losses, and also rate their week on a scale of 10.

This is a powerful exercise - it forces them to reflect and then share what work did they actually do through the week, and where did they miss out.

Once you do this exercise for a couple of weeks, you start to see the impact of this exercise. More importantly, you start to notice the patterns in your own behavior.

This is the best way to learn about your own work habits imo.

Productivity is very personal, there can not be a single solution to all our problems. But just documenting your work on a weekly basis, and using external accountability of a group to make sure that you're actually documenting your work, is a sure fire way of building self awareness, and ultimately of self improvement.

It's been inspiring witnessing the progress that members have made in the last 5 months with this tiny little intervention.

I hope more people start doing something like this with their own friends' groups.
