I write about running injuries and how I fixed my broken body | Trine University T&F Alumni | RPR Level 2 | FeedTheCats

I saw this fascinating TikTok of Jim Weber, the President of Brooks Running company describing his favorite statistic. When you run in a marathon, all of the shoes companies are keeping tabs on who is wearing what shoes. His favorite stat? Shoe count at Marathons. They have high speed cameras, automated tracking of shoe counts, and then they match bibs numbers so they know who wore what shoe.

At the Houston Marathon: 6000 full marathoners, 12,000 half marathoners, Brooks was #1 in the half and #2 in the full losing out to Nike.

The reason he sees it as an interesting stat?

It's a piece of equipment and by earning their most dedicated runner's confidence and trust, they know they are leaning in the right direction for their products.

This is a great breakdown, because it isn't just saying we have the most runners and we counted! It's going after a stat that tells the trend, the story, and the world that Brooks is on the rise and nipping at Nike's heels quite literally at every race.
