Day 5: This Is The Best Book I’ve Ever Read On Making Friends
Brianna Grace Ford

There are a lot of books about how to make friends.

And I've read most of them.

But the best book on building friendships I've found is "The Like Switch" by Jack Schafer.

For a few reasons:

  • Reason #1: It walks you through how to start what he calls the friendship formula: Friendship = proximity, frequency, duration, and intensity

  • Reason #2: It teaches how to create a curiosity hook instead of satisfying with over sharing.

  • Reason #3: The book details friend signals to use such as the eyebrow flash, tilting your head, touching lightly. It also warns you to stay away from foe signals like looking someone over head to toe, a wide stance, and staring.

  • Reason #4: It teaches you how to be able to read people when they are no longer interested or are uncomfortable.

  • Reason #5: One selfish reason to learn from this book is that people will be eager to fill your wants and needs if they like you. They will tip or buy more easily also!

If you are at all interested in charming strangers, I can't recommend this book enough.

(And if you've read it, do you agree? What other book would you recommend for beginners?)
