Reason 1: Lower Costs
Especially if you're just starting out, the high prices of RVs can be a major deterrent. Using an SUV you already own or even buying a new one will cost you less than the average RV. Compared to larger vans or RVs, SUVs also tend to have lower fuel, insurance, maintenance, and repair costs, making SUV-life cheaper over the long haul as well.
Reason 2: Maneuverability
While they certainly aren't as spacious as vans or RVs, SUVs' more compact size allows for better maneuverability in tight city streets and parking areas. They also tend to have higher clearances, allowing for more off-roading and access to remote campsites. Since many of us choose nomad life in order to venture off the beaten path, it's important to make sure your home-on-wheels will get you where you want to go!
Reason 3: Long-Term Versatility
Although some folks enjoy the nomad life for decades, not everyone is interested in living on the road long-term. You might want to travel for a few weeks, or a gap year, or you might want to test out the nomad lifestyle before investing in an RV. SUV-life gives you the ability to camp for as long or as short as you like, safe in the knowledge that when you end your travels or take a break, you still have a practical vehicle for daily life.
