I have been freelancing as a front-end web developer and web administrator for the past four years.
And there are three simple (but effective) pieces of advice I'd give anyone starting out (or who wants to get started):
✨ Advice #1: Learn to Network Online & In-Person
First, networking is key. Get involved in online communities and attend meetups to meet potential clients. You never know who may need a new website, landing page, or html email template for their business or organization!
✨ Advice #2: Practice Building In Public
Second, practice in public. Share what you are working on through social media and/or your personal website. Show potential clients what you’re capable of and what kind of results they can expect if they hire you.
✨ Advice #3: Share Valuable Content
Finally, share valuable content. Whether it’s a blog post, video tutorial, or helpful code snippet, sharing your knowledge will help you attract attention from potential clients and make them see you as an expert in your field.
Honestly, I wish someone had told me these three things years ago. But I'm at least glad I can pass them along to you 😊
