Boredom.
When you first start, you want to have to do something. And a little water can't hurt, right? All plants love water.
Since 2019, the one piece of advice every grower has offered was to not overwater my plants– especially baby plants (seedlings).
And yet, to this day, I still lose a seedling every few cycles to this dilemma.
It's not out of neglect. In fact, it's the opposite.
Most beginner growers are so eager to spend time in and around their new hobby that they are desperately looking for something–anything–they can do to or for their baby plant(s).
Which is great..until you run out of tasks.
Just because you want to water them, doesn't mean they need to be watered.
To find out if your plant needs water, check the moisture of the soil (with a meter or your finger) before watering.
If its bone dry all the way down, it's time for some water. Water gently, evenly, and around your main plant, not directly on top of it.
If the area around your seedling is dry, but you're concerned about overwatering, get yourself a spray bottle, and mist your heart away 2-3x a day.
