When you reach the age of 60, you can't just go out for a 5-mile run or lift heavy weights--at least not at first.
Try these suggestions instead:
Walk to places that are close instead of driving.
If it's too far to walk, park away from the building and walk the rest of the way.
Buy something that counts your steps. This motivates you to walk more.
Learn what a normal portion is and stick to that.
To make portion control more manageable, use smaller plates.
Most of us tend to eat everything on our plates. Try not to eat everything.
We've probably all increased our viewing hours because of the pandemic. It's time to get back to limiting viewing time.
Try to do something active instead of sitting.
Avoid buying BOGO sale items unless it's something healthy (and it's almost always not).
It's just too tempting to overeat if you have more of it.
If you're overweight, it's normal to wear loose clothes. They are comfortable and seem to hide your body.
Wear quality clothes that fit right--they will look better than the loose stuff.
Snacking may not seem like many calories, but it all adds up quite quickly.
If you have to snack, have something other than processed foods--think an apple or some carrot sticks.
Restaurants serve at least double portions of food. Eat half and take the rest home.
They add a lot of butter and salt to everything. It tastes good but won't help you lose weight.
Start strength and resistance training.
Eat high-protein foods and complex carbohydrates, and eliminate processed foods.
Get plenty of sleep.
