Chukwuemeka wasn’t a total loser, his life at some point was the envy of everyone who knew him. He had a thriving production and manufacturing company and an importation business that brought in electronics that serviced many households. He had everything going for him including a beautiful wife and lovely kids. He attended one of the biggest charismatic churches in the city and was beloved by his Pastor.
Emeks, as his friends loved to call him, was also an avid football fan, and most weekends were spent supporting his favourite football club, Manchester United, and hanging out with the guys.
If Someone had told you that Emeka almost came close to losing everything a year ago and that his life, family, and livelihood would have been threatened, you would say it was a big fat lie.
But that is precisely what happened.
About 3 years ago, Emeka was approached by an insured person with a proposal to ensure his business and possibly his children’s educational futures are insured against sudden mishaps. Trust Africans, whether it’s superstition or religion, we no dey like hear bad news or anyone who alludes to the fact that something bad might happen. “Chukwu ekwela! Chinekem di n'oche-eze” was his reply, which loosely translates as “God forbid! My God is on the throne”. It took another three months before Chukwuemeka was convinced that having an insurance package as a backup plan wasn’t a bad idea. First Bank Insurance was an obvious choice where he took out an insurance plan for his business and other packages to ensure his children would always get an education no matter what happened to him.
A year later that's when things began to unravel. His business took a hit, a military coup in Asia wiped out most of his investments in that region followed by the sinking of a cargo ship bringing containers with goods worth millions. His health took a hit, who would have survived such an ordeal? To watch everything you own take a hit, only one man comes to mind; Job.
That was when FBN insurance came to his aid. Because he had insured his business, they covered the loss of everything. His children’s school fees and annual vacation were covered because he had ensured to put a plan in place. And lastly, his medical bills were paid in full.
If you ask Emeks now what he thinks about it all, he is always quick to say, “God has a plan for everyone, and so does FBN Insurance.”
Choosing an insurance plan is a lot like packing extra clothes for a weekend of fun. You might start the weekend wearing your best duds, but having a backup plan in the event you need to quickly change clothes is always the best move any day.
Things never go precisely to plan, in fact, they seldom do.
One of the top reasons Nigerians buy insurance is to protect themselves in addition to their properties against unforeseen circumstances. Insurance helps individuals and companies safeguard their investments and properties against potential risks that could make them lose everything.
