5 Simple Sayings That Will Remind People Trying To Avoid Porn To Stay Focused And Live Connected To Community
Chris Goers, IFS Practitioner

It's not easy staying motivated.

Especially when the goal is to quit using pornography.

But anytime you feel like giving up and giving in, just turn back to these 5 simple quotes (to remind you stay focused and connected.)

"My best thinking got me into these rooms."

I came up with ways to cope with life's difficulties that eventually made my life unmanageable. Why would I think sticking to myself now would end up any better? I need help. Life is better when I use my community to validate and/or amend my thoughts and feelings.

"Last 3 words before a slip? 'I got this.'"

Sometimes I find myself thinking, "I'm fine, I don't need help, I got this!" That's when I need to run, don't walk, to my community of support and check my plans with them. They help find any faults in my thinking.

"SLIP stands for Sobriety Lost Its Priority"

After a slip, it's best to reflect on what happened that got me off track. At what point did life's difficulties become more important than staying sober? How can I do something different next time?

"HALT - Don't be Hungry Angry Lonely or Tired"

When I have a bad attitude or feeling off my stride (or a trusted friend tells me the same), these are my 4 likely suspects because they knock me off track for living at peace with myself and others.

"All parts are welcome, there are no bad parts"

A key to living at peace with myself and others is to accept that all my inner thoughts and parts are trying to help me cope with my circumstances. The impact on those around me may be damaging but when I realize the intent is to help, I can repurpose those parts rather than try to shut them down.

Let me know if these help you and tell me more that work for helping your inner world.
