I recently read the book The War Of Art by Stephen Pressfield. I highly recommend this book as it was a great combination of motivation and practical advice. As I’ve tried to put what I learned into practice I was struck by a bigger question – Why do humans in general have such a strong desire to CREATE?

What I’ve discovered at a high level in my reading and searching is that the drive to create is a complex mix of biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors. Below is a list of some factors that I have tapped into to validate my pursuit of creating a new venture in the financial industry as well as a new future for myself.

Problem-Solving / Innovation: Creation often involves finding new solutions to challenges and problems. The human desire to improve their lives and the world around them drives the impulse to create tools, technology, and innovations.

Self-Expression: Creating allows individuals to express their unique identities, values, and beliefs. It becomes a way to showcase individuality and distinguish oneself from others.

Sense of Accomplishment: The act of creating something, whether it's a practical invention, a new business strategy, a piece of art or music, or a story, can provide a deep sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.

Aesthetic Appreciation: Humans have a natural appreciation for beauty and aesthetics. The act of creation taps into this through the desire to build something visually, emotionally, or experientially pleasing.

Curiosity and Exploration: Humans have an innate curiosity about the world around them, and creation allows them to explore new ideas, experiment, and discover new possibilities that enhance their life or those around them.
