Social media has so much to offer from photos of different countries to videos of many different recipes to try. Apps like YouTube, Instagram and TikTok have many different people creating different meals and giving a step-by-step for all their recipes. Although not all the time are they showing you how to create these dishes but instead are showcasing what they have created. Replicating meals is simple though and gives you more creative freedom to add whatever you like to the dish.
I can’t lie I love to recreate different dishes but 90% of the time I’m missing something that was clearly added to the recipe. To counter these problems, I like to add something that I think would add to the flavors and not change the entire direction of the recipe. If I’m missing key ingredients, I’ll obviously start away from recreating these recipes in the moment but will wait for future opportunities to make it. Let’s say you’re missing an onion to add to the sauce but you have onion powder in a shelf next to you, why not use what you have around you and will do the same thing.
I learnt about buffalo chicken dip due to my Instagram being flooded with cooking content at the time and was so inspired to make it but never really had the time or ingredients to make such a dish. When the time came and I went grocery shopping I remember trying to get everything I remembered from that video and recreated it and became obsessed and it lasted me for a couple days since it was so large. I’ve learnt so much about cooking from social media and it’s had a huge impact on my life and I hope people try to recreate different meals they’ve seen to try something new. Cooking has been a calming process for me and has taught me time management and has become like a love language for me.
