The influence of eating and academic performance
christina🧢

In my essay prior I mentioned the phrase “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” this goes hand in hand with school and doing well academically. School often reminds kids about free breakfast and tries to give their students as much time to get it as possible, at least for my school and some people I knew that was the norm.

I brought up the fact that food is the source of energy and without it you’re definitely going to feel tired and that’s not a good feeling especially in a school setting where its already boring. When I would miss out on breakfast, I would always manage to fall asleep in my classes or straight away after school and that was the beginning to a very bad habit. Without energy I saw a drastic change in my behavior in the way I saw school and how I acted. I began not really caring and did the bare minimum and started skipping classes frequently compared to my other years in high school.

When doing any big tests like the SAT, PSAT or PERT teachers would never fail to remind students to eat breakfast the day of the quiz and would remind us how it’s important to eat. I would see people buying snacks to eat while taking the quiz and they seemed somewhat a little full of energy compared to before when I originally had seen them.

What I’ve noticed with skipping meals in school is that people tend to look not interested, exhausted, or completely out of focus. I’ve felt all those feelings when I would miss out on breakfast and noticed my grades suffering in the process and me not really caring about anything.
