I once worked at a company with a ton of open tickets.
A quick search showed most remained untouched after 6 months.
People were drowning in noise.
So I took a Risk.
I closed 13600 of them one afternoon.
In Bulk.
"If you still need this, please reopen it."
I got ONE message,
"Why did I get so many Jira notifications today."
From a company of a hundred people!
A few days later, why are our boards loading so fast?
No one cared about the closed tickets.
There is likely a more eloquent point about taking risks.
But if you take something away from this story, you won't miss those open tickets.
