I have been working in legal for over 10 years.
Since starting as a law clerk and working my way up to a CEO of a 7 figure law firm, I have learned a lot about what it takes to solve some of the biggest problems people face in our industry. In fact, they are a lot easier to solve than most people think. You just need to change how you're thinking about them.
Here they are, and how to solve them:
Problem #1: Health. In the legal field, we so often put our clients and our team first over our health. Think of the late nights, quick meals, and cocktails. It's time to stop and put yourself first for the benefit of all the others. Your family. Your friends. Your team. Your clients. YOURSELF.
Problem #2: Communication. Being an attorney can be very isolating at times. You have to be intentional about being involved. Get involved in mastermind groups. Attend conferences and talk to people that you admire. Join a Facebook group. Find a hobby. There are many options, but you must be intentional. Speak up. People want to hear from you.
Problem #3: Teamwork. We are all better together. You cannot do it alone. You should have zero desire to answer the phone, call the Court, draft the memo, attend trial, meet with the client, do the billing, etc. Remember as Dan Martell says, "80% done by someone else is 100% freaking awesome."
See? That wasn't so hard.
