It's now a load-bearing hack supporting your entire payment system. Did you spin up that MongoDB instance for "just this feature"? It's now storing your most critical business data.

Here are the trap markers every developer should recognize:

• "We'll add tests later" (Narrator: They didn't)

• "Just hardcode it for now" (It remained hardcoded until the heat death of the universe)

• "We can always refactor this" (Like the Empire could always fix that exhaust port)
