The heat is on and, for many of us, our skin is feeling it. The good news is that there are ways to keep your skin looking radiant and glowing all summer long – without turning to heavy cosmetics. Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of life, has some great tips for keeping your skin healthy and balanced in the heat. Here are 3 of my favorites:

  • One of the most important things you can do for your skin in summer is to keep it hydrated. This means drinking plenty of water and using products that help your skin retain moisture. Coconut oil is a great option for both internal and external use. You can add it to your diet by cooking with it or taking it in capsule form, and you can use it as a body lotion or hair treatment. It’s especially helpful if you tend to get overheated, as the coconut oil will help cool your skin from the inside out.

  • Another great way to keep your skin cool and hydrated is to make a cooling cilantro paste. Cilantro is a natural detoxifier and has cooling properties that can help reduce inflammation. To make the paste, simply blend a bunch of cilantro with water and apply it to your skin after cleansing. You can also add a few drops of lavender oil to help soothe any irritation.

  • Finally, one of my favorite summer beauty tips is to switch to shower oils instead of soap. Soap can be drying, especially in the summer heat, so opt for an oil-based cleanser that will help keep your skin soft and hydrated. We love products that contain aloe vera or chamomile, as they are both very soothing and calming.

By following these simple tips, you can enjoy beautiful, radiant skin all summer long. So don’t let the heat get you down – embrace it and let your natural radiance shine through!
