It isn't even specifically about parenting but what a read!
The Status Game is about the role status plays in our lives, why it's so important from an evolutionary perspective and what the consequences are of not understanding it.
It is a brutal and heart-wrenching read as you are reminded of all the bad decisions you made and replay all the unnecessary cruelty you witnessed all in the name of status.
Most of which, it turns out, were potentially avoidable if people had understood the underlying game that was being played.
A few reasons:
Want to know why kids get bullied? Or what really makes kids sad? Or want to know how to beat entitlement? Or want to know why the incompetent succeed?
I could go on but most importantly it illustrates how fundamental this need is and gives you the tools to play the game.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough and when we think about giving our children new tools to succeed in this world this book is right up there.
