Writing exercise day three lesson three. I have been putting off getting in front of the computer and writing for half the day. All the excuses have run through my head until finally I sat down and am trying to be productive and constistant. My laziness is very interesting because it’s in keeping with the lesson that I’ve read today.
The lesson of the day has to do with some of the excuses all writers face and how to overcome them. The lesson provides ten different excuses and strategies and methods for overcoming them. I won’t write here about all the excuses because I could just as easily copy and paste them. That would be laziness and plagiarism.
If you want the lessons that I’m using you’ll just have to go through the process, search the internet and track it down. Instead I will write about the main excuse I have for putting off writing which is laziness, not on the list but as valid as any of the others.
My laziness is perhaps caused by a lack of motivation or maybe just the ugly drab weather outside. Whatever the cause, I have overcome it and am writing.
One interesting thing that I have read and learned today is not to be too concerned about the cause of not wanting to write. It appears that all writers face these setbacks.
The main idea is to just do it. If you are lacking ideas about what to write about, write about not wanting to write as I’m doing. Write about how murky and miserable the weather is outside your window. Write about wanting to take a nap rather than writing. Just write.
In writing you are taking an actionable step which ninety nine percent of people will not do. This puts you in the top one percent. Writing daily also ups your odds of success. Overcoming an obstacle, in and of itself, is another key to success. You are training yourself to write despite any and all excuses.
You are also overcoming your fears and excuses and building up your confidence. So the lesson of the day is write, write, write!
