I didn't read as much as I wanted to last year and I'm going to try and practice these in 2022 to read more
#1: Reading multiple books at the same time
I used to read only one book at a time earlier, but I noticed I sometimes got stuck midway through a book if I am not enjoying it much and I did not want to leave a book unfinished as well.
#2: Stop Reading Books if it feels like a slog
I need to remember that it is okay to give up on a book (and perhaps come back to it later if I am so inclined).
#3: Review highlights from non-fiction books
I've always taken highlights from non-fiction but rarely reviewed them afterward - Going to see if I can address that going forward and engage more with the content within non-fiction books by trying to write either a book summary for myself or a brief blog post after reading it with the central idea of the book.
#4: Read via multiple formats - paper, e-books, audiobooks
I've been reading both regular and e-books but I am still struggling to listen to audiobooks. I find that I don't retain as much from audiobooks as well as lose concentration easily as I inevitably combine listening to an audiobook with other activities (chores/exercise). Need to try and do better with audiobooks going forward, will be curious to know how others feel about audiobooks.
#5: Read a little every day
I think the biggest thing I need to focus on is trying to read at least a page a day and the habit will gradually get reinforced.
What are you doing to read more in 2022?
