7 Ways You Can Keep a Journal
Written by: Dena Doolin
People keep journals about all sorts of things and for all sorts of functions.
Some ideas for a journal you may think about keeping are:
1. ๐ A daily diary of your life โ what happened to you that day, what you thought about it, what your hopes and dreams are for the following day.
2. ๐ A gratitude journal โ spend a little time each day listing three things youโre grateful for.
3. โฎ Historical perspective โ You can use a journal to contribute your historical perspective by recording your thoughts and impressions of an event or era as itโs happening.
4. ๐ก A place to store writing ideas โ some writers use journaling as a way to develop new ideas, either for fiction or non-fiction writing.
5. ๐ญ A place to store thoughts โ Ralph Waldo Emerson famously called his journal his โsavings bankโ โ he saw it as a place where he could jot down thoughts to come back to at a later date.
6. ๐ชด A growth journal โ track your lessons learned, goals you strive for, and milestones achieved which is a great way to stay motivated.
7. ๐ A bullet journal โ using apps like Notion or even a paper bujo can help you customize your set up, with a mix of journaling and planning to keep record of your habits, routines, and share your experiences on a timely basis to help you process accordingly and get things done.
Keeping a journal is a great way to recall information, since our brains only remember so much.
No matter how you journal, writing things down regularly helps you process & reflect on your thoughts, ideas, and experiences.
