Have there been times when you’re working and thinking about home, or you're having personal time and thinking about work?
Sometimes, life and work can feel like a great ball pit, like a kid’s bouncy house of colored balls surrounding you and overwhelming your perspective.
All the multi-colored balls represent so much coming at you.
How do you focus on the essential ball you need with clarity and focus?
During a team-building meeting at work, my colleagues and I had the opportunity to share how we work in a virtual environment as our best selves.
A colleague named Theresa shared that she works early mornings and late evenings because she is offline every workday from 4-8 pm, dedicated to being with her young daughter.
She elaborated, "During this time with my daughter, I don't even take a phone call from my mother or sister. My focus is only on her."
Theresa was clear on what was essential to her, and the team responded positively by honoring her sacred time.
Theresa later said, "I value this time with my daughter so much that I am completely centered on our time together. Everything else can wait. This priority also helps me bring my best self to work because I know I have this uninterrupted time with my daughter."
When Theresa is with her daughter, she focuses solely on being a parent.
Work and everything else happens at different times.
What are the top priorities that help you be laser-focused on work when you’re working and centered on your personal time when you’re away from work?
