Two high-level folders: Music and Podcasts. At the top of my home screen sits two clean folders that hold everything in my library. And I chose these two folders because I always go to Spotify for two reasons: to put music on or to listen to a podcast.
Two "inboxes" for new items: "Liked Songs" and "Your Episodes." I treat these two playlists as "inboxes" where I toss anything new that I want to process later. And these are the only "visible" playlists in my library (pinned to the top). Any time I hear a song I like, I toss it in the liked folder. And new episodes download automatically to the "Your Episodes" folder. From there, I'll block time to process them into the right playlist.
Music folders my mood & vibe. Underneath my "Music" folder is a series of sub-folders by vibe. Do I want a study, chill vibe? I have playlists for that. Do I want a high-energy, motivational vibe? I have playlists for that as well. I found this to be the best organizational method because that's how I play music—not by genre, but by vibe.
Podcast folders by topic & interest. Lastly, I have topic playlists for everything I'm interested in. This includes sports, business, health & fitness, biographies, and comedy. As episodes come into my 'Your Episodes" folder, I chuck them into the right topic folder. Then, when I want to dive deeper into a topic, I pop open the right folder and have a curated list of learning material. And when someone asks for recommendations, I simply share my playlist with them.
